     I’d seen that student around campus from time to time. The kind of person you think would be a decent friend. A really chill one who seemed quiet, but would have all these interesting things to say, on a million different topics, once you spoke to them for a bit.     Anyway, something had happened. I don’t know what it was. There were rumors being whispered all around about some terrible experience this person just went through. One of those things that makes someone go silent and stare off into space for hours on end. Either not reacting to people at all, or turning away with a very polite apology when others approached.  

**about 1/3 done. just wanted to get this started to keep myself committed to it I usually stayed out on the grass as long as I could on Wednesdays after school, til maybe it got cold enough that I’d have to relocate to the library. Usually there were some nice buddyroos in there to talk to. Sadly, those lovely budget cuts and signature American paranoia meant the security guards started shoving everybody out at 4:40 to lock the school up by 5 -- so, I was always headed to the writing club, called BAM, on an early clock.
